OBITUARY: 
Mrs. Sarah Etta Staats, 86, long a resident of the Airlie community, died Monday in Dallas. She has been a rest home patient for a number of years, following a severe stroke. Previously she had lived at her home at 911 Court street which she had purchased 18 years ago after moving here from Airlie. Mrs. Staats was born at Sac City, Iowa, in 1875, daughter of John W. and Anna L. Throssle Wilson. She married Asa Staats, member of a Polk pioneer family of the Airlie community. He died a number of years ago. 
Prior to her illness Mrs. Staats was noted for her vigor and fine personality. A few years ago she made an excursion to Alaska with her sister, Mrs. Jessie Bump, and wrote an interesting account for the Itemizer-Observer. She was a member of the First Christiah church of Dallas. 
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edith Davis, Rockaway; the sister, Mrs. Bump of near Kings Valley, and two grandchildren, Mrs. Orlena Lewis, Myrtle Creek and Fred Ray, Blodgett. There are three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. 
Services were Wednesday afternoon at the Bollman Funeral Chapel with Philip Wolfe, her pastor, officiating. Burial was in Monmouth cemetery.
