NOTE - Wife Minnie was daughter of Julius & Martha Nendel. She remarried 24 Dec 1923 in Polk Co, Oregon to Lota Lee Scott. She died 12 May 1982 in Corvallis, Benton Co, Oregon, age 98 years (Oregon Death Index) and is buried in Twin Oaks Cemetery at Albany

OBITUARY: 

Everett Edwin Staats, 57 years old, and well known throughout Polk county, died Sunday, August 19, on the old home place at Airlie where he was born. Kicked by a horse about a year ago, sciatic rheumatism developed and other complications followed ending in his demise. 
Mr. Staats was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Staats, pioneer Polk residents. He was born February 11, 1868, and devoted his life to farming and stock raising, owning many finely bred racing horses. Mr. Staats was married to Miss Minnie Nendel December 20, 1911, who survives, and one daughter, Evelyn, 8 years old. Beside his parents there are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Gertrude Waters of Pedee, Mrs. Erma Hecker of Albany, William Staats of Airlie and Roscoe Staats of Salem. Funeral services were held Sunday at 10:30 in the morning, at the church in Airlie and were attended by a large number of friends and neighbors. Dr. H. Charles Dunsmore of Independence officiated with Funeral Director Keeney in charge, and interment was made in the old English cemetery. There were numerous beautiful floral offerings. Pall bearers were: Emet Turner, Roy Barley, James Sebring, Wade Williams, Herbert Barley, Andy Turner.
