Oregon City – Willa Runkle Hughes, 49, died May 2 of cancer. Born in Portland, she lived and attended schools in Maple Grove before moving to Corvallis. She graduated from high school there in 1965. She lived in Salem and worked at Meier & Frank before moving to the Portland area. She was an office manager at Specialty Polymers Inc and worked for KISN Radio in the early 1970s. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. Survivors include her husband Leon Hughes, whom she married Nov 26, 1988; mother, Nada Runkle; and brother, Monte Runkle, both of Salem. Services will be 10 am Saturday art Smith cemetery, Monmouth. Arrangements by Bollman Funeral Home, Enterprise. Contributions: Hopewell House, 6171 SW Capitol Highway, Portland, Ore 97201.

Willa Lynn Runkle Hughes of Oregon City died May 2 of cancer. She was 49. She was born in Portland into the Embree and Smith families, pioneer families in the Willamette Valley. She graduated from Corvallis High school in 1965. She married Leon Hughes on Nov 26, 1988. They lived in Oregon City. she was the office manager at Specialty Polymers, Inc, and worked for KISN Radio Station in the early 1970s. She loved to fish and garden. Survivors include her husband, Leon; her mother, Nada Runkle of Salem; and her brother, Monte Runkle of Salem. Graveside services will be held at 10 am Saturday, May 17 in the Smith Cemetery on Fir Crest Road in Monmouth. Contributions may be made to Hopewell House, 6171 SW Capitol Highway, Portland, Ore 97201. Arrangements are by Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise.
